FAQ

I cover this in your initial consultation, but here are some of the most frequently asked questions!

I used to have an office in Nashville, TN and saw clients in person. However, our family moved to Western NC and I moved all my clients to telehealth.

Because I saw clients in person at first, I was definitely skeptical about the effectiveness of telehealth, and how the transition would affect my clients. However, we have both been pleasantly surprised to find that telehealth has been as, if not more, conducive to the therapeutic process! Most of them have actually come to prefer the flexibility of it, as well as the ability to be in the comfort of their own home or car. That way, they can really let themselves experience the catharsis of therapy without having to walk through a waiting room and office building afterwards.

3. How much are sessions, do you offer insurance, and if not, do you offer a sliding scale?

Sessions vary in cost but start at $125 for 50 minutes. I am unable to file insurance directly but can provide you with a "superbill" aka a receipt of services, that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Sliding scale spots are very limited and are all taken at the moment. However, it is important to know that I will never increase my costs, and that one of my career goals is to be able to offer sliding scale spots to anyone that needs it, and at anytime. Unfortunately I am not at that point yet!

4. What is your typical availability? How often will we meet?

As of October 2024, I am currently available in the mornings during the week, and Monday nights after 5 pm CT/6 pm ET. If you come upon this information months later than Oct 2024, please inquire, as this may have changed without me remembering to update my website :)

I like to meet with clients weekly or bi-weekly, in order to make a plan and gain some momentum. Depending on various factors over time, it can make sense to continue meeting at this rate or change frequency. In my experience so far, clients meeting at this rate have accomplished their goals with me in as little as 6 months, or upwards of a couple years. It is an individualized process and everyone is different and at different places, so there is no one or right answer!

5. I'm new to therapy but I'm not really sure what I need, can you help with that?

Absolutely! I feel it is my responsibility to guide and direct the entire treatment process, especially at the beginning. Most clients come in for their first couple sessions and just talk open-endedly. It can be a freeing but overwhelming experience, often with them feeling confused on their "what they were saying," and "if they make sense." However, it is my job to organize their thoughts, ideas, and goals, and collaborate on a plan to accomplish them. This empowers them and helps them feel safe to continue exploring their inner world, learning, accepting, and feeling compassion towards themselves in the process. We also cover your needs in the consultation, so you can have a better idea of our fit before committing to a formal session.

6. I have been to therapy before but my last therapist just listened and didn't offer feedback, will this be the same thing?

Absolutely NOT! Obviously, the therapist creating space through listening is paramount to feeling safe and heard. However, I have found most clients love and appreciate an engaged and interactive approach. The way I see it, you are laying the issues out in front of both of us, and we're taking a look at it together :)
